Love Poem

The Peripheral A Sunny Sunday morning greeting to you all.

I told you before that I have been writing since I was a girl and as a present to my patient mother I made a big collection, had it bound and gave it as a Christmas present.

I called the book  ‘The Peripheral’, which was the name of a magazine I used to produce when young for my friends and family.

Whilst visiting my mother yesterday we skimmed through the book and I saw this poem. I wrote this when I was 12-years old.  Poetry is not my forte and I was surprised to find this but wanted to share it with you as it is equally relevant today.

LOVE

Love

A thing to be cherished

Treasured forever

Love

A thing between all

From the ‘superior’ humans

To the ‘humble’ hedgehogs.

Love

A thing needy to all

Always there, ready to delight

The eager youngsters

The ageing parents.

Love

Never ask for its presence

Love, real love

Unquestioningly comes

It never falters

Or flickers away.

Love

Its strong pulse is ever near

Never closing its doors

Where happiness flows in.

Love.

“Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”

Mother Theresa

Your beautiful and uplifting posting was a delight to
    read this morning.
I am deeply touched by your understanding of love
    at such an early age.
The book must be a treasure.

    1. Mirja, I’m so happy there was something special here today to brighten your morning. It’s strange at the time I wrote this it was without deeper analysis, obviously just what I felt but now as a grown-up I realise it’s deeper impact.

Another gem of a blog. Writing looks as if it’s been with you all of your life. Any more like this in your book?

    1. Yes, Mike, writing has always been part of my life since little – I still have a folder of my early school scribblings! As for any more from the book – keep reading the posts – who knows..?

    1. Thank you so much Sammy for your kind comments and glad you liked it. I’ve always written so it’s interesting to come back to older pieces of work like this with the eyes of an adult – a good sign if it still speaks to you years later!
